July 28, 2005 ㅡ Samsung Electronics has hired feng-shui specialists as part of a marketing strategy, the company said yesterday. Samsung said the geomancy experts offer advice on positioning home appliances at the company's stores. They told Samsung to arrange their products in a scattered manner instead of the standard alignment to provide a more comfortable environment.
Samsung Electronics said the stores that followed this advice have increased sales.
'Usually when opening up a store we use scientific data including customers access and regional environment, but interior wise we're taking advice from feng-shui experts to improve the shopping environment for our customers,' said a Samsung Electronics official. 'However, we have no objective evidence that indicate feng-shui actually helped boost sales,' he added."
