The Statesman: "Feng Shui SOLUTION
Feng Shui believes that your house behaves like a living organism and its main door serves as its mouth through which the positive Yang “Chi” enters the house.
As the quality of food eaten and the food habits help determine the health of a person, likewise the quality of “Chi” which the main door receives and the way it enters through it help determine the quality of life of the persons living in the house.
Hence the main door is considered so important from the perspective of Feng Shui. An attractive main door can not only invite auspicious “Chi” into the house but also give a warm welcome to the guests, visitors as well as the residents.
It is important that the size of the main door matches the size of the building and its facade. A too large main door should be avoided because it would represent a big mouth compared to the size of the
face. The big door can hardly protect the vital ingredients in your home. It makes you exposed and vulnerable too. Similarly too small a main door should also be avoided because it would mean a small mouth in comparison to the size of the face and would also consequently mean too little energy entering the house.
Moreover, it would also minimise access and make one feel unwelcome and constrained to enter. The main door should be neither too large nor too small for the size of the building.
And what feels large or small enough cannot be based on physical measurement alone, but would also depend on your own feeling and
emotional experience.
If your house’s main door is too large in proportion to its facade than a mouth is to a face then the best solution lies in actually reducing its size or replacing it with a new smaller door.
Otherwise, mounting a light over its center can help visually reduce its apparent size. Or you can paint the door in a darker colour as compared to the rest of the house.
If the main door of your house is too small in proportion to its facade you need to attach importance to it.
Place large objects like plants and sculpture on its either sides or paint the adjacent walls around the door the same colour as the door to make it seem bigger. Otherwise, you can mount lights on its three sides to add visual importance to it. But obviously, enlarging its size or replacing it with a new larger door would be the preferred option.
